Diesel Supplies Reportedly Tight in Atlanta Area

iesel supplies remained tight in the Atlanta area this week, with scattered shortages despite a two-day shutdown of schools designed to save fuel, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Thursday.

With some Gulf Coast refineries down and a major pipeline to Atlanta pumping at just over half capacity, it has been a struggle to get diesel to the region, the paper said.

With supplies uncertain, the chains that run service stations and truck stops have scrambled, dividing inventories to keep fuel supplied.

Some private companies that typically fuel their own trucks have run out of fuel and are instead being sent to truck stops to fill up, one Teamsters union official told the paper.
