Diesel Price Climbs to $1.494 a Gallon

The national average price of diesel fuel gained 0.3 cent last week after jumping 2.1 cents the previous week, according to a survey conducted by the Energy Information Administration.

On May 21, the price stood at $1.494 per gallon, compared to $1.491 on May 14.

Over the last three weeks, the average price of diesel has risen 5.2 cents per gallon.

Also Monday, the EIA said that the average price of gasoline fell to $1.687 per gallon from $1.713 last week.



The diesel average was pushed up by increases of 1.3 cents in the Gulf Coast region, 1 cent in the Central Atlantic and 0.9 cent in the Rocky Mountain region.

The price fell in other regions, with the biggest drop coming in the New England region, where the price fell 1.4 cents.

The Energy Information Agency surveys 350 fueling stations at the start of each week, and reports the results on the same day that it polls the stations.
