Diesel Average Rises 0.1 Cent to $2.553 a Gallon

iesel fuel's national average pump price edged up 0.1 cent to $2.553 a gallon, the Energy Department said Monday.

Meanwhile, the average national price of gasoline rose 0.7 cent to $2.239. The price of gas is 3.8 cents higher than the same week a year ago.

Diesel’s average price is 5 cents higher than the same time last year.



Diesel declined in three of the five national regions, rising 2.4 cents to $2.647 in the Rocky Mountains and 5.1 cents to $2.724 in the West Coast region. In California, which DOE breaks out separately, the nation’s main trucking fuel rose 1.3 cents to $2.690.

rude oil futures slipped 17 cents to close at $58.80 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Bloomberg reported Monday. Last week, crude futures hit a 17-month low on, closing at $55.90 a barrel on Friday.

Each week, DOE surveys 350 diesel filling stations to compile a national snapshot average price.
