HL said Friday it had completed the upgrade of its new $300 million air and ground facility in Wilmington, Ohio, one month ahead of schedule.

The company said the hub will enhance its capability to handle freight and will benefit customers, providing increased flexibility and enhanced service levels in many markets.

The renovated facility, DHL's principal U.S. air and ground hub, will create about 900 new jobs, in addition to the 6,600 employees already based at the facility, the company said.

DHL’s operations at the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport will back Wilmington up as needed, and DHL will conduct a grand opening event at Wilmington in early October.

DHL Americas is ranked No. 4 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
