Demand for Contract Maintenance on the Rise

n 11% increase in contract maintenance work was a bright spot in an otherwise lackluster 2002 for most of the truck leasing business, according to industry experts.

Truck leasing was flat last year, held in check by customer reluctance to move up to new trucks for cost and service reasons.

Vehicle leasing has been “like watching grass grow,” said Paul DeCarolis of DeCarolis Truck Rental in upstate New York. “Where five years ago you had someone who came in and only wanted [a truck], now those customers would like to talk about maintenance and other services that can be provided.”



Leasing companies of all sizes offer maintenance programs to fleets that own their vehicles but don’t want to operate shops. Tailored maintenance is also available to leasing customers.
