iting urgent issues that face the trucking industry, Dart Transit Co. said Monday it had joined American Trucking Associations, to support ATA initiatives on current and pending legislative issues.
"Now is the time for the trucking industry to speak with a single strong voice," said Donald Oren, president of the truckload carrier.
Dart is ranked No. 53 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
Oren said pending changes to federal driver hours’ rules regulations, federal highway bill reauthorization and rising fuel costs “are examples of why the trucking industry needs to speak with a clear and articulate voice.”
“Now is the time for truckload carriers, including Dart, to participate in the process through our largest industry organization, the ATA," he said.
ATA President Bill Graves said Dart's action represented an important step forward for the association.
"Dart is a leader and innovator in the trucking industry, and we welcome their participation as we address the many challenges facing our industry," Graves said.
Dart, a privately held, family owned company based in Eagan, Minn., also provides intermodal, warehousing and logistic services.
