Dana’s Profit Drops in 4Q

Dana Holding Corp. said its profit fell in the fourth quarter of 2013 and it saw a loss for the full year, due in part to a tax benefit in the previous year.

Net income available to common stockholders in the fourth quarter was $38 million, or 26 cents a share, compared with $80 million, or 54 cents, a year earlier. The year-ago figure included a $54 nonrecurring tax benefit, Dana said in a Feb. 20 statement.

Net sales increased slightly in the quarter to $1.62 billion, from $1.61 billion.

For the full year, Dana had a net loss available to common stockholders of $13 million, or 9 cents a share, compared with a profit of $269 million, or $1.82, in 2012, which also included the tax benefit. Net sales for the year fell to $6.8 million, from $7.2 million.
