Daimler Trucks North America is recalling 863 newer Freightliner trucks using certain Goodyear tires, whose tread may have cured improperly, raising the risk of vehicle damage or crash due to partial tread separation.

The affected trucks include model year 2017 Freightliner Cascadia, Business Class M2, and 122SD trucks manufactured in 2016 from Jan. 24 to Oct. 10, and equipped with Goodyear G399A LHS 295/75R22.5 Load Range G tires, DTNA said.

DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the affected tires, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin Jan. 6, the truck maker said.

Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-728.

DTNA learned in late September of Goodyear’s own recall of the tires and opened its investigation. The OEM decided in October to launch a voluntary safety recall.
