Daimler AG said it expects its global truck sales in 2013 to exceed 2012’s figures, which would make it the best year for sales since 2006.

Daimler Trucks sold 433,600 units in the first 11 months in all of its brands, which include Freightliner and Western Star in North America, the company said Dec. 27. That was 2% higher than the same period last year.

The company did not disclose its December sales so far but said that it expects to close the year with more sales than last year’s 462,000.

“Daimler Trucks did very well this year, thanks to our extremely attractive product lineup and our growth offensive in new markets,” Wolfgang Bernhard, head of the truck division, said in a statement.

Daimler will announce its final full-year sales figures Feb. 6, the company said.

As for 2014, Bernhard predicted an overall increase in the global truck market, which will benefit Daimler.

“We are continuing to do all we can to strengthen our position as the leading global truck manufacturer,” Bernhard said.
