Cummins to Purchase Hilite’s Emissions-Control Business

Truck engine and components maker Cummins Inc. said it has signed an agreement to acquire Hilite International’s emissions-control business. Terms were not disclosed.

Cummins said Hilite’s selective catalytic reduction, or SCR, doser technology will become part of its Cummins Emission Solutions subsidiary.

SCR doser technology is “a critical enabler” for the performance and durability of SCR aftertreatment systems, Columbus, Ind.-based Cummins said.

Hilite, based in Marktheidenfeld, Germany, is a supplier of systems and components aimed at reducing fuel consumption and emissions. It is owned by 3i, an international investment firm.

The acquisition, expected to close in the third quarter, is subject to German regulatory approval, Cummins said.

A week earlier, Cummins announced a $219 million expansion of its Seymour, Ind., campus and the addition of 290 jobs to support its high-horsepower engine business.

The expansion includes new warehouses, engineering and production test cells, a new office building, a cylinder block line and a manufacturing facility for aftertreatment components for high-horsepower engines, Cummins said.
