ContainerPort Group Merges With ASF Transportation

Transaction Doubles Fleet Size East of the Rockies

ContainerPort Group has merged with ASF Transportation Group, a transaction that will add five terminals into the portfolio of the drayage, transloading and depot company.

ContainerPort Group will now operate terminals in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, New Orleans, Mobile, Ala., and Charleston, S.C.

ASF will operate under the ContainerPort Group brand. Michael Smith, president of ASF, will take on the same title at ContainerPort Group.



“There has been a very strong demand from our customers to expand our services into the Gulf,” the company wrote in a statement. “We look forward to extending our services further south.”

Through the transaction, which was made official Jan. 1, the combined company will operate 1,300 power units east of the Rocky Mountains, including a significant increase in fleet size in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Gulf Coast, according to the company said.
