Con-way’s Third-Quarter Income Gains

Con-way Inc. said its third-quarter net income increased to $38.8 million, or 81 cents per share, from $37.3 million, or 78 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue jumped 23.3% to $1.37 billion, the carrier said late Wednesday.

Con-way Freight, its regional less-than-truckload operation, reported operating income of $61.1 million, up 1.8% from the year-ago period.

The Con-way Truckload unit had operating income of $15.2 million.

Menlo Worldwide Logistics, Con-way’s logistics and supply chain management unit, reported operating income of $3.7 million, down 40.6% from a year ago.

Con-way is ranked No. 6 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
