Con-Way Says It Will Expand in Mexico

Con-Way Transportation Services said Wednesday it will expand its operations in Mexico.

It said its Con-Way Mexico Express operating unit will open a network of six logistics centers to serve major commercial shipping markets in Mexico.

The centers — in Nuevo Laredo, Monterrey, San Luis Potosi, Guadalajara, Queretaro and Mexico City — will begin operations on July 4.

“We eventually want to provide the same service in Mexico that we currently provide in the United States and Canada,” said David McClimon, Con-Way’s president.

"Building this network is the next logical step in providing Con-Way service throughout all the [North American Free Trade Agreement region] markets,” he said in a statement.

Con-Way established its presence in Mexico in 1992 when it set up a sales support office in Monterrey.

Con-Way is a unit of CNF Inc., which is ranked No. 4 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
