anadian National Railway Co. said Thursday it reached a four-year agreement with electrical workers who run its switches and communications systems.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union ratified the four-year collective bargaining agreement, said CN, Canada's largest freight railroad.

The new contract, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2004, raises IBEW members' salaries and benefits, CN said.

The IBEW represents 644 union members who maintain and repair CN’s signals and communications systems across Canada.

The railroad reached agreement with Teamsters Canada May 17, also in a four-year labor agreement retroactive to January 2004. (Click here for previous coverage.)
