C.H. Robinson’s Third-Quarter Income, Revenue Rise
ransportation and logistics firm C.H. Robinson Worldwide late Tuesday reported that its third-quarter net income rose to $54.1 million or 31 cents a share, from $37.3 million or 22 cents a year earlier.
Total transportation gross profit for the quarter increased 31.9% to $198 million, the company said in a statement.
Total revenue for the quarter rose to $1.5 billion, from $1.1 billion a year earlier.
Truck transportation profit growth of 31.4% was driven by volume growth and price increases in the truckload and less-than-truckload operations.
Intermodal gross profit rose 19.6% from an increase in gross profit margin, which was offset by a decrease in volume. "Our volume was impacted by market conditions that continue to drive business back to truck in certain lanes," it said in a statement.
International ocean and air gross profits jumped 50% in the quarter, reflecting two acquisitions.
C.H. Robinson is ranked No. 14 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of the largest North American logistics companies.
