Caterpillar Moving Power Generation Manufacturing to S.C.

eavy-duty equipment and diesel engine maker Caterpillar Inc. said Monday it is shifting manufacturing of some of its diesel and gas-powered generators to South Carolina from Northern Ireland to help meet rising North American demand.

Production is scheduled to begin in the first half of next year, the company said in statement. Production of some generator sets will continue at its facility in Larne, Northern Ireland.

Caterpillar, which also builds diesel engines for trucks, currently builds engines and components for its machines at facilities in Greenville and Sumter, S.C.
