Caterpillar Appeals Ruling on EPA Engine Regulation

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>Engine manufacturer Caterpillar Inc. has appealed a federal court’s rejection of its request to block enforcement of the government’s new diesel emissions requirements.

Caterpillar said it asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to review a lower court’s Sept. 5 rejection of its request to set aside the Oct. 1 deadline prohibiting the sale of lower-emission diesel engines.

Caterpillar Oct. 21 said the lower court ruling allowed competing engine makers to use a banned emission technology to achieve new engine emission standards.
