Cartoon Caption Classic: Week One Results

In Week One of the Cartoon Caption Classic, all three top seeds and 12 of the original field of 17 advanced to a second round of competition. Voting for Week Two begins Feb. 6. In each heat, voters were asked to vote for up to four contestants, and the top four would advance.

Here's a look at the Week One cartoon, captions and voting results:

Heat One

 

The top seed in Heat One, Katya Koshedub of Route Transportation & Logistics in Bradenton, Florida, won her heat and led all vote-getters with 161. Andy Mayhew of Alliance Media was the player eliminated from this heat after Week One.

Heat Two

 

The top seed in Heat Two, Ashlee Kucinski of Geodis, came in second to Christen Whalen of Matson Logistics, but both advanced. Roy Milne of R.H. Sheppard and Robin Cox of CNG 4 America were knocked out of the contest. Week One, Heat Two: Vote for Up to Four to Advance

Heat Three

 

With a final-day push, top seed Graham Gillespie of Active Exhaust Corp. surged from the back of the pack to advance with three other competitors. Rachel Kerns of Virginia DMV and Scott Zwickel of JLS Nationwide Services were eliminated. Week One, Heat Three: Vote for Up to Four to Advance
