Canadian National Buys Savage Alberta Railway

anadian National Railway on Friday announced it purchased short-line rail hauler Savage Alberta Railway from Savage Co., Salt Lake City.

CN paid C$25 million, or about $22 million U.S., for the 345-mile line, the company said in a statement.

Savage Alberta transported about 35,000 carloads of freight in 2005, CN said.
