blizzard that blasted across eastern Colorado and surrounding states Wednesday continued to shutter airports and interstate highways into Thursday, the Associated Press reported.

Interstate 70, the state’s main east-west highway, was closed for 150 miles from just east of Denver to the Kansas border, AP said.

Other roads also were closed, including I-25, Colorado's main north-south highway, news reports said Thursday morning. Interstate 76 was closed from Denver to Nebraska, AP said.

State police in Colorado reported many collisions, but no fatalities on the roads.

The broad storm also spread rain across parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska Wednesday, with police reporting vehicles sliding off I-80 in the Nebraska Panhandle, AP reported.

United Airlines, the busiest carrier at Denver International Airport, canceled more than 630 flights into and out of the facility, as did other airlines, AP reported.

Most of eastern Colorado was under a blizzard warning, and storm warnings were issued for most of the rest of the state, AP said.

The National Weather Service said the Denver area could get up to 20 inches of snow, and other parts of the state could get 30 inches, AP reported.
