Bendix Aftermarket Air Dryer Uses Recycled Desiccant

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems announced that its new aftermarket Bendix GC spin-on style air dryer cartridge is using recycled desiccant and will be available Aug. 20.

The component can provide original equipment manufacturer performance with a replacement cartridge priced for aftermarket customers, according to Bendix.

“We’ve been remanufacturing our desiccant for over 20 years and continue to improve and invest in the process. The Bendix GC reflects this, with a performance range that’s near the air drying efficiency of our brand-new, OEM-grade cartridges,” Richard Nagel, Bendix director of marketing and customer solutions, air charging, said in a statement.

Additionally, the GC is sold as service-new with no core charge, in line with Bendix’s long-term goal of diverting their spin-on cartridges from landfill disposal, according to the company.

Bendix, which is based in Elyria, Ohio, estimates that in a typical year, more than 500,000 commercial vehicle air dryer spin-on cartridges — containing about a million total pounds of desiccant — are thrown out across North America.

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems is a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group.
