Volvo Trucks Announces Seven Dealers Are First Certified Uptime Centers

Volvo Trucks said seven dealers have been designated as Certified Uptime Centers, representing the first businesses to earn that recognition.

The announcement, part of the OEM's stated commitment to increase truck uptime, said that the designation was earned through redesign of service bays as well as  standardization of processes and workflows to perform faster diagnostics and to improve service efficiency.

“Our Volvo Certified Uptime Centers show that we’re serious about increasing uptime for our customers,” said Göran Nyberg, president of Volvo Trucks North America. “These dealers have committed to a new way of thinking when it comes to service and have completed a rigorous certification process that will help more Volvo customers get back on the road quickly following a service stop.”

Volvo Trucks last year started a pilot certification program and intends to certify as many as 100 other locations this year to further its uptime commitment. All of the centers, which use remote diagnostics and Volvo’s ASIST service management tool, have designated bays for repairs that take less than four hours, which offer immediate service instead of the traditional first-come, first-served approach. To earn the designation, the locations must show expertise in 28 service and repair processes, such as proven use of diagnostic tools.

The certified dealers are: Kriete Group, Madison, Wisconsin; Nacarato Volvo Trucks, Nashville, Tennessee; Nextran Truck Centers of Birmingham, Alabama; Vanguard Truck Center of Atlanta; Vanguard Truck Center of Phoenix; Vision Truck Group of Mississauga, Ontario; and Westfall O’Dell Truck Sales of Kansas City, Missouri.

“As a result of becoming a Certified Uptime Center dealer and implementing these work flow processes, we are turning more work daily and have happier customers,” said Clint Draper, director of operations for Nacarato. “This is also being noticed by a large number of customers who are deciding to send trucks to our shop for repair even when this takes the truck off the normal route.”
