Descartes Acquires 2 European Firms

Descartes Systems Group, a Waterloo, Ontario-based logistics software provider, has acquired Impatex Freight Software Limited, a freight forwarding company based in the United Kingdom, and Compudata, a supply chain integration provider in Switzerland.

Descartes acquired Impatex with an all-cash purchase price of 5.1 million British pounds, about $8.3 million, and Compudata with an all-cash purchase price of 16 million Swiss francs, about $17.9 million, Descartes reported.

Impatex brings more than 200 freight forwarder customers to Descartes' network, with the majority in the U.K.

"Impatex strengthens Descartes' customs and regulatory compliance platform with additional functionality and a broader set of services for the U.K. market,” Descartes CEO Edward Ryan said in a statement.

Compudata's network serves a community of trading partners, and the company will bring more than 500 customers to Descartes, with the majority in Switzerland.

"Descartes is establishing itself as the global network for communities collaborating on logistics and supply chain processes. The addition of Compudata's solutions and community to our logistics technology platform is another important step on this journey,” Ryan said.
