Nat-Gas Vehicle Orders Rise Among Clean Energy Customers

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. said its customers ordered 70% more natural gas-powered vehicles in the first nine months of 2013 from the same period last year.

“Looking back at 2013, the pronounced trend toward natural gas as a transportation fuel is clear,” Clean Energy CEO Andrew Littlefair  said in a statement.

The Newport Beach, Calif.-based company said experts forecast 2,400 Cummins Westport natural-gas engines will be produced this year, and production will rise to 10,000 in 2014.

Littlefair said 2013 also saw “tremendous promise” in developments for natural-gas use in the rail and maritime industry. and Clean Energy will continue to support those segments.
