Alliance Truck Parts Race Car Finishes Second in Nationwide Series

HOMESTEAD, Fla. — The Nationwide Series race car sponsored by Alliance Truck Parts finished the 2013 season in second place, narrowly missing the overall points championship by three points.

The unit of Daimler Trucks North America has been primary sponsor of the car owned by Penske Racing since 2011. The Ford EcoBoost 300 race took place here on Nov. 16, a day before Jimmy Johnson claimed his sixth Sprint Cup title at the same speedway.

At a media briefing prior to the race festivities, Friedrich Baumann, DTNA’s senior vice president of aftermarket, provided an update to the Elite Support dealer program, and outlined plans to speed repairs through improved inventory management and vehicle telematics.

Driver Sam Hornish Jr., a past winner of the Indianapolis 500, started on the pole and ran in the top five for much of the race. He finished eighth while Austin Dillon placed 12th, good enough to secure his first championship.

Alliance rewarded representatives of some of the top performing Freightliner and Western Star dealers in the United Stats and Canada with a VIP weekend experience.
