Volvo’s October North American Deliveries Decline 8%

Volvo AB said Friday its North American truck deliveries fell 8% in October from a year ago, though year-to-date sales are 23% over the same period last year.

Deliveries of its Volvo and Mack brands in North America fell to 3,200 trucks from 3,939 a year ago, Gothenberg, Sweden-based Volvo said in a statement.

Volvo-brand truck North American deliveries declined 14% to 2,144 units, while Mack’s fell 27% to 1,056. A small number of the company’s Renault and UD Trucks brands make up the remainder of the North American tally.

For the year, North American sales are 23% higher than last year, at 40,632 trucks. Volvo-brand North American sales are 11% higher year-over-year, at 21,641, while Mack’s are up 50%, at 18,454.

Worldwide truck deliveries for all Volvo brands slipped 8% to 14,999 units, led by the North American decline. Heavy-duty deliveries, which make up the bulk of the total, fell 8% to 15,768 for the month, while medium-duty deliveries fell 12% to 2,891 units.

Volvo AB is the parent company of Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks and the Eicher, UD Trucks and Renault Trucks brands.
