TNT Express CEO Marie-Christine Lombard has resigned amid an extended European Union antitrust review of UPS Inc.’s $6.5 billion bid to buy TNT, Bloomberg reported Monday.
Lombard’s departure “to pursue an external career opportunity” will not affect the plans of the Dutch package firm to be acquired by UPS, Bloomberg reported, citing TNT.
Lombard will depart by the end of September and Chief Financial Officer Bernard Bot will replace her temporarily, TNT said.
Lombard, 53, is a French national and has been head of TNT Express since it split from the Dutch postal service last year. She was with predecessor company TNT NV since 1999, Bloomberg reported.
European regulatory officials said last week they had not reached a decision in an antitrust review of the deal, which UPS has targeted to be completed by the first quarter of 2013.
