J.B. Hunt Transport Services reported record earnings for its first quarter as all four business segments generated higher revenue.
Net income rose to $67.7 million, or 57 cents per share, from $50.1 million, or 40 cents, a year earlier.
Revenue climbed 17% to $1.17 billion, the company said late Thursday.
Truck segment operating income fell 16% to $4.9 million, but revenue rose 8% to $128 million.
Intermodal operating income climbed 27% to $79.4 million on higher load volume, price increases and fuel surcharge recovery. Revenue surged 20% to $694 million.
Dedicated contract services operating income surged 51% to $28.1 million, while revenue rose 7% to $256 million.
Operating income for integrated capacity solutions climbed 58% to $4.1 million. Revenue jumped 30% to $97 million.
