LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Trucking Moves America Forward movement will continue to help educate the mainstream public about trucking’s safety efforts and vast economic contributions, the campaign’s chief manager told Transport Topics.

“We’re trying to get all of the professional drivers involved, trying to get the legislative people and the motoring public to understand what we do,” said ATA Second Vice Chairman Kevin Burch, president of Jet Express Inc.

At the Mid-America Trucking Show on March 27, Burch stressed the campaign is growing into a movement with the potential of reaching a broad national audience.

Launched last year, Trucking Moves America Forward is made up of ATA, the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, the Truckload Carriers Association, trucking equipment manufacturers, and other groups, companies and individuals.

For 2015, the coalition plans to launch a promotional campaign that will press federal lawmakers to pass a long-term highway legislation, according to ATA.
