ARTBA Awards Safety Certification Credentials to 48 Industry Professionals

Over the past few months, some 48 individuals have become credentialed through the American Road and Transportation Builders Association’s safety certification designed for transportation project professionals.

According to an ARTBA press release issued July 12, these credentialed professionals represent 19 companies and 14 states. The safety certification program is geared toward people who work on transportation projects, such as supervisors, foremen, inspectors, managers, manufacturers and materials suppliers, designers, equipment operators and owners.

The certification, established in September 2016, is valid for three years. These 48 new certified professionals join 41 others who earned their credentials between the months of January and March.

The press release states that these people “could make a huge, industrywide safety impact by learning core competencies necessary to identify and mitigate potentially life-threatening on-site risks.”

To receive the certification, participants take a 2½-hour exam that contains 120 multiple choice questions on assessing project risks, creating project safety plans, implementing and conducting on-going evaluation of a site-specific operational safety plan and conducting incident investigations.
