Canadian carrier Armbro Transport Inc. has closed its doors after 56 years in operation.

A statement on the company’s website said the carrier went into receivership earlier this month. A recording on the company’s telephone line said its final date of operations was June 19, four days after an announcement that no new business would be accepted.

“We wish all staff the best in their future endeavors,” said the Web posting by Armbro, whose offerings included truckload, less-than-truckload and other distribution services in Quebec and Ontario from its base in Mississauga, Ontario.

Company President Jim Davidson didn’t return calls from Transport Topics seeking comment.

Founded in 1959, Armbro listed 170 pieces of equipment on its website. The company began operations hauling products such as aggregates.
