American Central Transport, Boyd Bros. Set Driver-Pay Increases

Dry-van truckload carrier American Central Transport and flatbed hauler Boyd Bros. Transportation recently announced driver-pay increases.

ACT, based in Liberty, Missouri, said its over-the-road company drivers will receive a 2-cent per-mile pay increase starting Aug. 24 in addition to a 1-cent per-mile anniversary increase provided earlier this year.

Together, the raises represent a 7% pay increase, resulting in a pay rate of up to 52 cents per mile paid for all miles, plus a fuel bonus, the company said.

Engineered and dedicated lane company drivers at ACT will receive a 1-cent per-mile pay increase.

ACT said it also is offering a 2-cent per-mile pay increase for all owner-operators who add the DriveCam onboard video-safety system from Lytx Inc. to their trucks. Beginning Aug. 24, those contractors will receive $1.05 per loaded mile if they have a hazardous material endorsement and 99 cents per loaded mile for non-hazmat contractors, with 90 cents being paid for empty miles, plus fuel surcharge on all miles.

Boyd Bros., based in Clayton, Alabama, said it is offering a seasonal bonus of 2 cents per mile for company drivers who are paid on a per-mile basis, enabling them to earn up to 56 cents per mile. Company drivers who are paid by percentage will receive a 1% increase, the fleet said.

Boyd Bros. said the bonus, which went into effect Aug. 1, will be available “indefinitely” due to the company’s consistent business growth.

Boyd Bros. is part of Daseke Inc., which ranks No. 49 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
