Tolls on the Ambassador Bridge connecting Detroit and  Windsor, Ontario, rose 25 cents per axle Thursday for all truck classes, bringing the toll for a 5-axle, 80,000-pound truck to $27.50, the bridge’s owners said.

The toll is the same in U.S. and Canadian dollars and is collected in each country’s currency before a vehicle crosses. The new rates marked the Detroit River crossing’s second increase in a year.

Tolls are now $3.50 per axle for trucks weighing up to 36,000 pounds, $4 for 36,001 to 54,000 pounds and $5.50 per axle for 54,001 to 145,000 pounds.

Passenger cars’ tolls rose a quarter to $5.
