Allied Holdings Inc. (
AHI) said Wednesday that it has named Hugh Sawyer as president and chief executive officer, replacing Robert Rutland, who will remain as chairman.
Sawyer was previously the president and CEO of Aegis Communications Group. Prior to that, he served as president of Allied Automotive Group, Allied's largest subsidiary.
"I am delighted to have an opportunity to rejoin the Allied team and look forward to leading the revitalization effort that is already underway,” Sawyer said.
Allied Holdings is the parent company of several subsidiaries engaged in providing logistics, distribution and transportation services to the automotive industry.
During the first quarter of 2001, Allied lost $18.9 million, or $2.35 per share.
