Agility CEO Engle Stepping Down for Position at General Motors

Agility Fuel Systems

Agility Fuel Systems CEO Barry Engle will leave his post for an executive vice president position with General Motors, the natural-gas fuel systems manufacturer said July 28. Engle will continue to serve on Agility’s board of directors and remain a shareholder of the Santa Ana, California-based company.

Until the board finds a successor to Engle, Chief Operating Officer Bill Nowicke will serve as interim CEO. He is working with Engle to ensure a smooth transition.

"In his role as COO, Bill has provided strong, hands-on operational leadership,” Mike Gallagher, Agility’s chairman of the board, said in a statement. “He knows the company well and is uniquely able to take on additional responsibilities.”

Gallagher added, “He guided the company through a period of rapid growth, assembled a fantastic team and built a great foundation for continued success. We appreciate the leadership, passion and vision which he has brought to Agility."

Engle will become a member of the GM executive leadership team with responsibility for operations in nine South American countries.

"It has been an honor and privilege to be part of the Agility team,” Engle said. “I'm pleased to be able to maintain my involvement on the board as we continue to grow and build the company.”
