Accuride’s Loss Declines; Sales Rise

Accuride Corp.’s first-quarter loss narrowed as sales rose, the company said.

The truck and auto component maker posted a loss of $2.9 million, or 6 cents per share, compared with a loss of $5.2 million, or 11 cents, a year earlier.

Sales jumped 28% for the quarter to $269.5 million.

Operating income quadrupled to $7.2 million, and Accuride’s net earnings were adversely affected by an $8.7 million interest expense.

Wheels sales, which account for more than 40% of Accuride’s business, also rose 28%, to $116.9 million.
