Accuride Reports Second-Quarter Profit

Commercial vehicle component manufacturer Accuride Corp. said it earned $6.5 million in the second quarter, compared with a loss of $36.1 million a year ago.

Net sales rose 44.7% to $195.6 million from a year ago, Accuride said in a statement.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, jumped to $17.2 million, from $1.6 million in the prior year period.

Although still weak compared to average cycle levels, the three major segments Accuride supplies — North America Class 5-8 vehicles, U.S. trailers and related aftermarkets — improved year-over-year, the company said.

Production across all three major segments increased from the same period in 2009, with Class 8 production up about 38% year-over-year, and Class 5-7 and trailers up 25% and 50%, respectively, its statement said.
