he initial development plan for a proposed $10 billion intermodal facility near Denver, has been presented to Aurora, Colo., by its developer, who said the site could eventually include trucking and railroad terminals.

“This is a huge industrial development that will take 30 to 40 years to build out,” Bill Schuck, president of the Schuck Corp., told Transport Topics. “We expect to have our development plan approved by [Aurora] by next June and contracts signed by then with various tenants.”

Schuck said the initial plan for the facility, to be called TransPort, was submitted to the city Nov. 30. The proposal mapped out regional roads and earmarked 275 million square feet of land for office, industrial and commercial development, including truck terminals.

However, Schuck said he could not yet name the trucking companies that have indicated they would like to relocate to the site.
