Trailer maker Wabash National Corp. has reached an agreement to acquire truck-body manufacturer Supreme Industries, a move that would catapult Wabash to the second-largest U.S. truck-body manufacturer as it expands its focus on e-commerce equipment.

Thieves stole $17.2 million worth of cargo in the United States and Canada during the second quarter of 2017, down from $35.1 million in the year-ago period, data tracking firm CargoNet reported.

North American Class 8 orders blasted through normal expectations in July, climbing 81% year-over-year in what is typically the slowest order month of the year, analysts said.

Sales of used heavy-duty trucks rose 17% in June as the average previously owned Class 8 truck was newer, had fewer miles and cost less than a year earlier.

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Holdings Ltd., which specializes in dry-bulk carriers, has rallied 83% in 2017 to lead the benchmark Straits Times Index. The Chinese shipbuilding firm has made a comeback after it won 13 contracts worth $318 million in the first quarter, about 40% of its $823 million worth of orders it won last year.

Manufacturer Navistar International Corp. is phasing out the production of engines at its Melrose Park, Ill., plant and will turn the facility into a technical center for truck and engine testing.
