LANSING, Mich. — General Motors is poised to announce the week of Jan. 24 major electric vehicle investments in Michigan, with plans to spend $6.5 billion and create up to 4,000 new jobs at two plants.

The state of Michigan and some private partners are taking steps toward building or assigning dedicated lanes for automated vehicles on a 40-mile stretch of highway between Detroit and Ann Arbor.

LANSING, Mich. — Google self-driving car spinoff Waymo said Jan. 22 that it will bring a factory to Michigan, creating up to 400 jobs at what it describes as the world’s first plant “100%” dedicated to the mass production of autonomous vehicles.
