Quality Distribution Reports Profit for Fourth Quarter, Year

ank truck carrier Quality Distribution said late Monday it earned $6.2 million or 32 cents in the fourth quarter, compared with a loss of $6.4 million or 35 cents a share in the previous fourth quarter.

The company’s revenue rose to a record $175.3 million, up 13.1% over the previous fourth quarter.

For the full year, the company earned $11.9 million or 62 cents a share, compared with a loss of $10.7 million or 57 cents the previous year. Revenue rose 9% to $678.1 million.



“We are pleased that many of the process improvements we began to implement in 2005 have helped us obtain a profitable quarter, and are optimistic that we have built a solid foundation for our future,” said Chief Executive Officer Jerry Detter, who took over from former CEO Thomas Finkbiner last June.

Quality Distribution is ranked No. 33 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
