Prime Inc. announced a partnership with Mastery Logistics Systems to implement a cloud-based transportation management system.

Prime turned to the company, which develops MasterMind, to help implement a more efficient TMS platform into its own operations to address soaring logistics complexity and driver engagement.

“We’ve been experimenting for the last several years with a cloud solution for our brokerage offering and intermodal offering, and have seen improvement in overall efficiency in those areas while still supporting and enhancing our highly modified ICC system for our asset and power-only offerings,” Rodney Rader, Prime technology director, said Sept. 21. “MasterMind will give us the opportunity to move all of our business lines to the cloud and leverage the latest in technology.”

Prime had been developing and tweaking its TMS for years. But over time, the growth of the system also had created limitations within the software offerings. The company concluded it was time to embrace a new system.

“We’ll start with the brokerage offering, emulating the current brokerage offering while taking advantage of advanced features in the MasterMind platform,” Rader said. “This will be followed by the intermodal offering, again taking advantage of advanced features in the MasterMind platform.”

Rader added that as those lines are moved to the MasterMind platform, Prime will learn more about the system capabilities. Mastery, in turn, will learn more about the custom features in the asset and power only offerings. The knowledge will be used to make the final move of the asset and power only offerings to the MasterMind platform.

Prime ranks No. 18 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America.  — Transport Topics
