Jan England Passes ‘First Lady of ATA’ Torch to Pam Card at Spouse Meeting

LAS VEGAS — “I am so proud to be in the trucking industry,” outgoing ATA “First Lady” Jan England said at the Annual Spouse Business Meeting at American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition.

England, wife of outgoing ATA Chairman Dan England, welcomed her successor, Pam Card, the wife of Mike Card, who becomes ATA’s chairman on Wednesday.

The breakfast meeting included several members of America’s Road Team, drivers who represent the industry for ATA for a two-year term.

“I thank America’s Road Team and their message,” England said, noting that when she and Dan England were first married 40 years ago she did not know much about the trucking business.

“I didn’t have a clue what this industry means to us or the nation.” Since then, she added, “The trucking industry has been a huge part of our lives.”

The meeting’s guest speaker was Juliet Funt, daughter of famed “Candid Camera” star Allen Funt. She gave a motivational and humorous speech about the strengths and struggles of women in a presentation called “Overcommitted, Overwhelmed and Over It! Success Skills for the Blisteringly Busy.”
