rucking industry representatives voiced concerns last week over the start of the government’s program to fingerprint hazardous materials drivers, but a federal official called the program “immensely successful.”

Starting on Jan. 31, truckers seeking a first-time hazardous materials endorsement on their commercial driver licenses were subjected to fingerprint-based background checks through a firm contracted to collect the prints for the Transportation Security Administration.
