FleetUp Registers ELD Product

Startup technology vendor FleetUp officially announced that it has registered its electronic logging system with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ahead of the agency’s upcoming mandate of the technology.

That regulation will require most drivers who currently keep paper logs to switch to electronic logging devices by December 2017.

FleetUp’s ELD works through a vehicle’s onboard diagnostic port and installs in less than 10 minutes, the company said.

Drivers can use the system to view the amount of hours driven, rest required and available driving hours remaining from a mobile app on Android or Apple devices. They also can access their records of driving status and driver vehicle inspection reports.

Fleet managers also can view their drivers’ hours of service on the FleetUp online platform.

The system generates alerts to warn drivers about how much driving time remains before a violation.

As of May 31, FleetUp’s product was one of only three devices to be listed on FMCSA’s ELD registry. However, the agency is not vetting the devices itself, relying instead on the device manufacturers to self-certify their own products as compliant ELDs.

FleetUp launched its ELD product in the U.S. market in July 2015.

The Milpitas, California-based technology firm also offers a broader suite of integrated applications designed to help fleets manage their day-to-day operations, including tools to monitor fuel consumption, engine performance, vehicle location, employee productivity and maintenance programs.
