Dynamex Reports Higher 1Q Profit

Logistics and delivery firm Dynamex Inc. reported its fiscal first-quarter net income rose to $4 million or 39 cents a share, from $3.6 million or 34 cents a year earlier.

Sales for the quarter ended Oct. 31 rose 11.1% to $112 million, the company said late Wednesday.

Dynamex, which operates in the United States and Canada, said sales were helped by the stronger Canadian dollar, which was 10.2% higher than the same time last year compared with the U.S. dollar.

The company stayed within its earnings guidance of $1.45 to $1.55 per share for its 2008 fiscal year, on 6% to 10% sales growth.

Dynamex, which provides same-day delivery services, is ranked No. 75 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
