Bison Transport Names New COO

Bison Transport Inc. has named a new chief operating officer in a move the company calls a necessary expansion.

President Robert Penner, who also served as chief operating officer, will turn over the COO duties to Trevor Fridfinnson. Fridfinnson has been with Bison Transport for more than 23 years, according to a company release.

Fridfinnson will oversee terminal operations and later this year will also take over the maintenance department.

The company also said Mike Ludwick has been appointed to chief administrative officer, a new position. Ludwick has been with Bison Transport for more than 20 years.

Ludwick will oversee information technology, human resources, safety, finance and fuel costs, Penner said.

“Bison is on an aggressive growth path to increase revenue by 50% [an additional $250 million] by the year 2020. To support our current and future growth needs, we are adding to our senior executive teams,” Penner told Transport Topics.

Bison Transport, based in Winnipeg, ranks No. 65 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
