ArvinMeritor Forecasts Higher 3Q Sales

ArvinMeritor Inc. said Wednesday that its fiscal third-quarter sales will rise as much as 20% to $2 billion on higher demand in Asia and South America, and for military products in North America.

“Our strategy to refocus, restructure and regenerate the business continues to show results,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Chip McClure.

“Our balanced geographical footprint and product mix is offsetting the weak market we’re experiencing in North America,” he said in a statement.

The earnings for the fiscal quarter ended June 30 also will benefit from a lower tax rate, ArvinMeritor said.

ArvinMeritor said in May that it would spin off its automotive unit and focus on supplying parts for commercial trucks.
