State departments of transportation seeking equipment operators to take on temporary seasonal work have not been able to avoid the driver shortage that the trucking industry grapples with daily.

Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corp. has agreed to buy U.S.-based freight forwarder AFF Global Logistics for $465 million in cash and equity, the company announced Oct. 18.

Some vendors have stopped shipping products to the retailer over concerns they won’t get paid, according to people with knowledge of the situation, who asked not to be identified because the talks are private.
