Replay: LiveOnWeb's 'Powering the Trucks of Tomorrow'

Fill ’er up, or plug ’er in?

Fleets have choices on how to power their vehicles these days – traditional diesel, natural gas, or, increasingly, electric.

Our Nov. 17 LiveOnWeb program took a look at fuel efficiency and cost-savings gains that cleaner-running diesel and natural gas promise, as well as the intriguing potential that electric offers, even for Class 8 trucks.

Our guests came from wide-ranging corners of the industry, and they’ll help you get a handle on which power source makes sense for your fleet both today and in the near future. Plus, Seth Clevenger brings you hot news off of Tesla’s Nov. 16 unveiling of its Class 8 electric-powered truck.

Clevenger (in Los Angeles) and Joe Howard (in Arlington, Va.) co-hosted the program from two coasts, and included expert analysis from these guests. Click on the links below to watch their full individual video interviews. Left to right, they are:

  • North American Council for Freight Efficiency Executive Director Mike Roeth
  • Frito-Lay Senior Director of Supply Chain Mike O’Connell
  • Cummins Executive Director Tim Proctor
  • Natural Gas Vehicles for America President Dan Gage

With diesel prices at their highest point in more than two years, and fuel costs comprising one of the biggest expenses for most fleets, it’s a good time to assess what the options are.
